You will spend your stay in the historic Manoir de Dives in the middle of the idyllic Périgord. The manor house offers plenty of space for up to 8 people, who can enjoy the beautiful nature and the typical French way of life far away from the hustle and bustle.
Our house is located in a small settlement just outside the village of Manzac sur Vern. In the village you will find two restaurants, a post office and a corner store. Every Tuesday in the late afternoon there is a market with regional producers (e.g. organic vegetables, honey, jam, meat etc.). In the neighboring village of Grignols (about 7km) there is a baker who still bakes in a wood-fired oven.
The nearest shopping facilities are in Saint Astier (about 14km) and Vergt (about 15km).
The Périgord region is famous for its exciting cultural history as well as its diverse culinary tradition: In the valley of the Vézère you can go on a discovery tour in one of the numerous caves. Towns like Bergerac or Perigueux invite you to visit them with their historical architecture but also with their shopping possibilities. For us, the highlight is undoubtedly the many small markets with handmade food, the possibility to buy fruits or vegetables directly on the farm from producers as well as the typical winegrowing tradition of this region. If you like detective stories, you should read Martin Walker's "Bruno, Chef de Police" to get in the mood. Now a bestseller, Walker's novels condense extensive research into the cultural and culinary history of this region, which is not yet visited by too many tourists.
