Positive: The location is very close to the best parts of Chester. The cathedral is definitely worth a visit. Lots of independent coffee shops and places to eat. We particularly liked The Ship Inn. Staff made us feel welcome, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Wales and Liverpool close by if you want to travel further. Overall, the apartment was clean, well equipped, and the bed was quite comfortable.
Negative: The private parking bay space is very tight and is made worse by a bollard that restricts manoeurves. It takes several manoeuvres to use this space, not just one or two. I strongly recommend that you ask the host for a parking permit. There is also parking for £10 a day across the road, which we used. However, during busy times, on street parking is limited, and the car park is very popular and gets busy too, so it is best to keep your options open. The sofa is actually a sofa bed, and it is very hard and uncomfortable to sit on. There is only one coffee table, so if you are sitting at the other end of the sofa, there is nowhere to put your drinks - you either have to keep hold of them or put them on the floor. The TV reception can be poor at times and restricts the channels you can watch. We noticed several types of very small 8 insects/ flies. (not sure if these were from the plants or not). The photograph of the building is not up to date as the paint has been removed to expose the brickwork. This can be confusing when you first arrive.
