Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Good location by the river opposite the Johnsons of Elgin factory shop. You're a two minute walk to a big supermarket and the bus station with routes to Edinburgh and various other Borders towns. The flat has a TV where you can login into your own Netflix etc. Kitchen and bedrooms are fine. Hawick is on the Borders Abbey Way and there are a lot of walks of varying length which start in the town. Hawick is a bit neglected compared to Melrose and Peebles but has some lovely cafes, very friendly people and a great wee community centre showing films. There's a great pay as you go gym off the high street too.
Negative: This flat really needs a clean- there were handprints and marks on almost every wall and the shower is mouldy. I think this is one of many apartments managed by a company so don't expect personal service- it's a key box on the wall and limited communication. The front door of the building is always left open and the door to the apartment has one quite flimsy lock only- we asked for this to be changed (by making the flat's main door lock functional again) but the company heard nothing from the homeowner, so we heard nothing from them. This left us feeling very anxious about our stuff while we were out. Please leave the hall light on for the old folks who live above and have to feel their way up and down the pitch black stairs otherwise.
