Privacy was paramount when we discovered our magical, waterfront property in 2016. We still remain enchanted by the tropical romance of our secret by the sea. Just minutes from the Gulf of Mexico, our tranquil setting is also home to dolphins (we spot them daily in the tidal waters of the Imperial River)—and to the manatees that quietly surface to snort into the ocean air. Our little peninsula provides a treasured escape from the everyday, especially because of its unique,180-degree view of the river, and across the river to the lush green preserve at Bonita Bay. The preserve provides a habitat for an abundance of birds, including the once-endangered and much-beloved osprey. But the favorite amenities of Bonita Springs—Barefoot Beach and Bonita Beach—also beckon us for beach walks when we wish to get away. Reached by car in 5 minutes and bicycle in 15, the ocean awaits our visits, all day, every day.
The charming simplicity of our river-cottage décor provides the perfect balance for indoor and outdoor living. Although our heated saltwater pool and numerous decks invite us to spend our time outside, the serene sophistication found inside is also a welcoming place of peace. If we choose to step into the excitement of fine dining and unique shopping venues, the world-class destination of Naples is only twenty minutes south of our private sanctuary.
Only our home in Germany, and our children residing there, in Canada, and in the U.S could draw us away from the total privacy of our home on Aloha Lane. We hope you will find our wonderfully renovated river cottage a special place to treat as yours throughout your stay. Enjoy our photos.

Summary: We rented Michael and Jane’s lovely home for about 5 weeks this winter and it was very comfortable. Such a luxury to lounge outside by the pool and enjoy the beautiful hedge of hibiscus. Then move over to the lounge chairs positioned at the river’s edge to have an afternoon cocktail and watch for dolphins playing in the river. Inside, the house is modern and well-appointed. Be sure to find the local farmers markets and then come back to cook up some delicious meals - there is an excellent assortment of cookware in the kitchen. One more thing to know is that even on the busiest days in south Florida, it’s very quiet on Aloha Lane. There’s a park on the other side of the river, so the view is of trees and birds. Paradise! We’ll definitely be back.
