Positive: It was cozy and close to everything.
Negative: The constant barrage of rules and threats to cancel our stay or charge us extra diminished the joy of our visit considerably. It was the opposite of hospitality. We paid in full 9 months in advance and then were told ten days before that we missed the fine print and if we didn’t pay another $500 security deposit by bank transfer we would lose all our money and we shouldn’t bother showing up. From the US this costs $50 and a trip to the bank because it cannot be done any other way. We would have been happy to pay this up front as money was not a problem- only they make it feel sneaky. There were multiple emails that we couldn’t have a guest even for one minute- annoying because our son was also in Amsterdam for a conference. And if there is anything for the cleaning service to do after you leave they threaten to take money out of the security deposit. It’s a shame because the space was really cute and well located - but the booking.com communications were examples of how not to treat guests. I will never use booking.com again after this experience. The only things that would make the space better are more lighting and they need some drawers or somewhere to hang clothes.
