Fairplay is located about 20 miles South of Breckenridge and is known as the “Trout Fishing Capital” of Colorado. It’s the perfect home base to explore the endless outdoor opportunities nearby. At almost 10,000 feet in elevation, the town is an adventure-lovers paradise throughout the year, especially in the winter.
Nearby world-class resorts, boarders and skiers can enjoy pristine backcountry and groomed resort trails. The warmer months bring spectacular wildflowers along mellow trails and challenging ascents. This is all close to historic Front Street, where dining, wine tasting, local art galleries, South Park City Museum, and shopping entice.
In the warmer months, enjoy hiking just minutes away at Pika Trailhead or Bear Creek Trail, both easy trails offering spectacular views. If you’re looking for a challenge, try your hand at a local 14er via Kite Lake Trailhead. If fishing is your thing, trout fishing along Fairplay’s 50-plus miles of pristine trout streams is a must!
In the winter, make your way to Breckenridge, just 35 minutes north. Considered by many to be one of the best ski resorts in Colorado, Breckenridge boasts 5 peaks, 2,908 skiable acres, 187 trails, four terrain parks, and the tallest chairlift in North America.

Breckenridge is filled with history, a lively arts and culture scene, and great shopping and dining. Take a stroll down the historic main street, with over 300 shops and restaurants, or stop by a museum or one of the town’s signature events held throughout the year.
Getting Around:
Mountain living and exploring requires you to get around by car. We recommend an AWD or 4WD for mountain driving and snow tires or chains during winter. CO-9 North will take you through Alma and to Breckenridge. CO-9 South to US-24 East will take you to Colorado Springs. US-285 East will bring you to Denver. If you want to explore further, US-285 S and I-70 W will bring you deeper into the Rockies to visit towns like Buena Vista, Vail, Beaver Creek, and more.
The property is about a 2-hour drive from Denver International Airport (DIA) and Colorado Springs Airport (COS). Renting a car or utilizing a shuttle service for transportation to the home is available at both airports.
