Welcome to ground floor of Casa Jawa, nestled in the coastal Nosara jungle, walking distance to world-class surfing Playa Guiones.
Casa Jawa is a beautiful remodeled house based on real eco-living elegance and cosiness. It was built to have as little of a footprint on the environment as possible using 5 recycled containers, natural stone and wood and as little cement as possible.
The name Jawa is derived from a Cabécar term meaning “the house of the healer.” The Cabécar are an indigenous group of the remote Talamanca region of Eastern Costa Rica.
Staying in Casa Jawa is a beautiful and inspiring journey in connection with nature : the fabulous coastal jungle, wildlife & ocean sounds of the property and amazing sunsets are truly feeding the soul, ears and eyes !
Connect your senses to the rhythm of the jungle through the energetic sound of Howler monkeys, the visual brilliance of a million stars at night, the delightful freshness of organic Costa Rican cuisine, the vibrant scent of tropical foliage, and the physical touch of a yoga mat, a warm wave, or sand between your toes in world famous Playa Guiones !
The ground floor has 2 bedrooms (1 california king bed and 2 twin bed), 1 bathroom, and one office convertible into an extra bedroom. In total the ground floor of Casa Jawa can sleep up to 5 people, but 4 people comfortable. All bedrooms are separate from each other. This allows for privacy come bedtime or waking up in the morning (no one else has to be woken up accidentally by your 5 am dawn patrol sesh!). The 2 bedrooms and an office/bedroom share an adjacent bathroom. All of the rooms have A/C and high-end ceiling fans. The house is beautifully decorated with stunning macro-pictures of Costa Rica wildlife in all rooms with no shortcuts on the amenities. Hot water is provided by solar panels.
The ground floor contains 1 kitchen and 1 living-room.
A brand-new shared salted pool is giving an extra luxurious touch to this amazing property.
Casa Jawa Earth and Ocean floors correspond to second and third floors and are rented as one unit separately and completely independent from Casa Jawa Air ground floor.
The house sits on 3.25 acres of very private land with hundreds of fruit trees such as lime, orange, star fruit, mango, banana, and avocado as well as hundreds of gorgeous flowering precious wood trees such as Cortez Amarillo, Cortez Negro, Sandal, Llamaron del Bosque, Orgullo de La India and Malinche. The house is located 25 min walking distance to the beach with a beautiful path through the jungle and the K section -community area leading to Baker’s Beach on famous surfing Playa Guiones.
Access the property through the gate of the 506 Tennis Center compound (which is the only gated community with full-time security in Esperanza).
Families can enjoy the nature trails, tennis, ping pong, football, yoga practice, sunbathing, swimming at the pool and just relaxing in a hammock on the decks.

Summary: Carole was an amazing host offering boogie boards, beach chairs, fresh fruit and her friend as a surfing coach and fishing guide, but the house appears much better in photos. Since these photos were posted, much of the furniture has changed out to plastic lawn chairs, upholstered couches and worn floors covered with turf.One of the photos appears to have a view of the ocean, where now there is a cement wall. The pool in the morning appeared at first to be unswimmable and looks gleaming in the photos. The kitchen has only a fridge, toaster oven and stovetop. There is no coffee maker, toaster, oven or ice maker. The TV remote was broken.The listing says outdoor pool and communal pool, which led us to believe the small pool was ours and the communal pool was at 506 Tennis Center.The house and pool are just too small to share, the stacked container style leaves you to feel as if you're staying in the same space as your upstairs neighbors.This house was not for us, we left several nights early with no offer of a discount or refund.
