This guest cottage sits behind the house occupied by the first mayor of East Lake. Enjoy the professionally manicured grounds including a pool, spa, putting green and original outdoor fireplace. It has a full kitchen, a half bath and a sofa bed on the first floor and a queen bed with veranda and full bath on the second floor. Walk to the entrance of the East Lake Golf Club a block away or the East Lake Park with tennis courts and playground. This is your complete in-town getaway.
East Lake is home to the East Lake Gold Club, the home course of legendary golfer Bobby Jones. The PGA Championship is hosted there each fall. The village of Oakhurst, which has numerous restaurants, a market and a coffee shop is a short walk, as is Hosea & 2nd, a revitalized area of East Lake with incredible restaurants and Perc coffee.
There are two porch swings in front of cottage perfect for reading or sipping a glass of wine. The upstairs veranda is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee. The pool and hot tub can be heated and the fireplace is available for use (firewood is provided).
Public transportation is accessible via the East Lake Marta Station, 1.5 miles from the cottage. The neighborhood is walkable and bikes easily get you into nearby Decatur, Oakhurst, Kirkwood and Little Five Points. Fernbank Museum of Natural History is a short 10 minute drive.
A code will be provided for the front keypad and is typically the last four digits of your phone number (can be changed upon request). Parking is on property behind an unlocked gate.
We live in the main house, so you may see us around. We will respect your use of the property and please let us know if we are not. We may use the pool/spa during your stay usually only when/if you leave the property. If you would prefer for us not to or would like for us to ask your permission first, please let us know. The remote in the cottage allows you to change turn on and heat the hot tub. If the temperature remains above 50 degrees in late fall, winter, and early spring we will heat the pool to 80 degrees upon request. The pool heater cannot keep the pool heated if temperatures fall below 50 degrees. The spa can be used year round and at any temperature. We are happy to discuss the details of heating the pool with you prior to booking. There is a surveillance camera covering the pool and spa area. This is for the safety and security of the guests, the hosts, and the property.
