Positive: This property was brilliant - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. I have to start by mentioning the owner and her parents (who live next door and handled the check in). They were all amazing. Mara's communication was always prompt and clear, and she was super kind and flexible. She happily accommodated our request for an early check in, and always responded to messages immediately. Her parents did the check in and were just lovely. During our stay they were kind enough to deliver a loaf of fresh, homemade bread, some homemade dried figs, fresh lemons and also told us when we accidentally left the lights on in our car! The location is excellent. Very central for many beaches and all of the main Algarve attractions. Parking was on the street, but space was always available right outside the house and never a problem. The house itself felt very safe (shutters on all the windows) and was unbelievably quiet. The garden was gorgeous and maintained to a high standard. I particularly loved that the layout meant that even for a group there was always private spaces and a choice of sun or shade at anytime of day. The hammock saw a lot of use! The wifi was fast and flawless (even with a teenager streaming Netflix). The showers were excellent, and an assortment of bathrooms also meant no one ever had to wait. The outdoor grill and eating areas were a real highlight. We grilled several times, and ate outside almost every single night. The separate wash room was a bonus, and we ended up using this a lot. The villa was spotlessly clean, and a lot of basic supplies were included (washing up liquid, a few dishwasher and washing machine tablets, hand soap, toilet paper, etc). Overall the villa totally lived up to our expectations, and our entire family enjoyed our stay here. We have visited the Algarve on 9 previous occasions, and all agreed that this was in the top 3 villas we have ever stayed in.
Negative: There were a few small points that we wanted to mention, although these would not necessarily prevent us rebooking this villa in the future. The description mentions games and books are provided and this is not the case. There were no books or games. I love reading and look forward to the eclectic mix often found in holiday villas, and our family enjoy board games on holiday. The books and games consisted of one Winnie the Pooh puzzle and a deck of cards. It's not a big deal, but had we have known, we would have bought a few books and games along with us. The beds were quite hard. I appreciate that this is a personal preference, and for a week it wasn't an issue, but after 12 nights we were all struggling slightly with this. This is really the only thing that would influence our decision to return. There was no mid stay clean. This is the first time I have stayed somewhere for 12 nights at this price point with not even the beds being changed. The owner made it clear we just needed to ask if we wanted fresh towels (we ended up washing the ones we had which was no problem at all), but having the beds changed would have been nice. I am certain if we had requested linen it would have been delivered, but who wants to change beds on holiday? Some basics are provided (as mentioned above) but as there is no cleaning offered it would have been good to have more than 1 bin bag, and maybe some kitchen roll and a cleaning spray included. I am perfectly happy to do some cleaning, but it would be nice not to have to purchase the supplies to do this. Also there was a slightly odd and tired selection of coffee pods (3) and tea bags (mostly open - not individually sealed - and handled by who knows how many people) as well as a few sugar sachets. I feel it would be far nicer to either offer a decent selection with some fresh milk, or nothing at all. Old, open tea bags and random and limited coffee pods just give a poor impression in an otherwise excellent villa.
